Walls like doors are not really walls in particular - just flat surfaces. The game was never very accurate with collision and it's hard to fix this in a way to deal with how the levels were designed. Take D1 level 1 for example - the corridor leading to the reactor. That hallway isn't really high enough for the robots placed in there to move - if we are taking it serious. So to be honest... I started to be almost paranoid when it comes to collision issues nowadays.
