Alright, this is what I've found so far testing the software renderer. Since all the glitches involve graphics, I've included a screenshot of each one. Unless otherwise stated, the only "d*x.ini" or command-line option I used was "-use_players_dir", and I compiled with "scons install opengl=0".
Overall, though, the software renderer ran dead stable--didn't crash once, and had high FPS on the original Descent resolutions of 640x480 and 320x200, even on my older laptop.
EDIT: Just found that the stretched-texture glitch also presents on some non-lava surfaces. I updated that item above.
- FIXED - Upon exiting a D2 game to the main menu, all the menu's options become invisible. I can still select them normally, and sub-menus like "Options" render fine--the main menu just doesn't show up. Changing the screen resolution corrects this. This problem also occurred once in D1, but I couldn't figure out what was triggering it. EDIT: Originally reported by A Future Pilot...oops. (-_-)' Sorry about the duplicate. Though I guess it helps having that report together with all the rest...

- FIXED - When I use low-res fonts--meaning no hi-res addon pack for D1 and "-lowresfont" for D2--the Load Game menu's screenshot overlaps much of the savegame list. Seems to be independent of the screen resolution.

- Passing through doors in both D1 and D2 causes visual oddities. It seems that when the first-person camera itself intersects the open door, strange vertical bars appear.

- Approaching some walls, floors, and ceilings in D1 and D2 causes a weird, stretched texture to grow onto the screen from the edge. Some surfaces show the effect better than others; the lava near the red key in D1 level 1 produced the most noticeable effect in my test.
